Punjab Government Spends Rs 204.69 Crore on Free Textbooks for SC Students, Says Dr. Baljit Kaur
Punjab Social Justice Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led government has spent Rs 204.69 crore on free textbooks for Scheduled Caste students from Classes 1 to 10 during its four-year tenure, reinforcing Punjab’s commitment to education, social equality and the vision of “Rangla Punjab”.
Dr. Baljit Kaur stated that during the four-year tenure of the Punjab Government, an amount of Rs 204.69 crore has been paid to the Punjab School Education Board under the scheme for the supply of free textbooks to students from Scheduled Castes studying from Classes 1 to 10. She said the financial assistance has proved instrumental in strengthening the educational foundation of children from thousands of families across the state.
The Cabinet Minister said education is the greatest strength capable of transforming the destiny of any child. She stated that the government believes every strong step taken in the field of education illuminates the future of society. With this vision, the Mann Government is continuously advancing public welfare schemes to ensure equal opportunities for children belonging to every section of society so they can fulfil their dreams.
Dr. Baljit Kaur further said that the initiatives undertaken by the government are not limited to providing facilities alone, but also represent a major step toward strengthening social equality, education and prosperity in the state. She emphasized that the vision of “Rangla Punjab” would become a reality only when every child in society is connected to education, moves forward with confidence and succeeds in achieving personal aspirations.
She added that the Punjab Government will continue to strengthen public welfare initiatives in the fields of social justice and education in the coming years.
